The year was marked by the typical weather of our climate, with abundant spring rains that led to the growth of some fungi in several plots, which was controlled by timely, vigilant action when tending the vineyard.
The harvest, which usually takes place in mid-September for the Verdejo variety and a few days earlier for Sauvignon Blanc, came early due to the rains and the strong summer heat. This year, by the first few days of September, we were fully engaged in the harvest of Sauvignon in the Valdevacas plot, continuing immediately afterward with Verdejo and Viura.
As usual, the grapes were harvested in a staggered manner, differentiating between plots and ripening stages for the winery’s different wines.
The rains that fell during the harvest delayed the picking of some plots, with the harvest ending in mid-September.
It was an unusual harvest marked by COVID-19, in which the safety regulations were prioritised to prevent the spread of the virus and keep our winery staff safe.
